SpaceX Starlink internet service starts accepting bookings for $99 per month

The Starlink (Starlink) satellite internet project of Musk's Space Exploration Technology Company (SpaceX) once again expanded the scope of public testing on Tuesday and began accepting reservations.

The company said that it currently only accepts reservations for users in the US, Canada and the UK. The monthly fee is 99 US dollars. If you order the Starlink Network Service Kit, you still need to pay 499 US dollars, including a satellite TV butterfly antenna and tripod, Wi-Fi router, power supply, and wires.

This is SpaceX's further action after expanding the scope of Starlink testing services last year. It is also SpaceX's latest move before the Starlink project went public independently.

The company's website emphasizes that the reservation is “fully refundable” and notes that “prepayment of a deposit does not guarantee service.” Additionally, SpaceX said “the order may take 6 months or more to complete,” depending on where the user is located.

The company said that during the test period, Starlink's network service speed will be between 50 Mbps and 150 Mbps, and the network latency will be within 20 ms to 40 ms. However, SpaceX warned that since testing is still ongoing, there may be no network service at all in a short period of time. As the company launches more satellites, adds ground receiving stations, and improves software, the quality of service will improve dramatically.
