Citi said the risk of bankruptcy at AMC had been "significantly reduced".

As of press time, AMC theaters rose 2.23 per cent to $9.17 after closing up 14.71 per cent yesterday.

The company announced before Monday that it had raised $917 million, of which about $500m came from the issuance of new common shares and investment deals with Mudrick Capital Management, which will allow it to continue to operate without resorting to bankruptcy filings.

The smooth financing of AMC also means that the company has temporarily lifted the bankruptcy alert. Earlier, Adam Aron, chief executive of AMC Cinema, also said: "this means that any talk of AMC's imminent bankruptcy is completely impossible."
