NONGFU SPRING CO., LTD., who has risen by more than 50 per cent over the past two months, has led to a rapid increase in Ms Zhong's wealth. Zhong's shares in NONGFU SPRING CO., LTD. and Wantai have a market capitalization of 502.5 billion yuan ($77 billion).
Zhong Yingyi, if NONGFU SPRING CO., LTD. hadn't been listed in Hong Kong this year, many people might not have heard his name.
But now, as NONGFU SPRING CO., LTD. 's share price continues to rise, Zhong has become the new richest man in Asia.
According to the Forbes Real-time Rich list, NONGFU SPRING CO., LTD. founder Zhong Kui has a fortune of US $79.5 billion (516.75 billion yuan), making him not only the richest man in China, but also the richest man in Asia and one of the top 10 richest people in the world.
It is worth mentioning that before that, only Mukesh Ambani, president of India's Reliance Group, made it into the top 10 of global wealth. Mukesh Ambani replaced BABA Group Chairman Jack Ma as Asia's richest man in July, according to Bloomberg.
The surge in Mr Zhong's wealth is due to the surge in NONGFU SPRING CO., LTD. 's share price since November, from HK $35.80 per share on November 2 to HK $54.90 at noon on December 31, with a market capitalization of HK $617.43 billion. In two months, NONGFU SPRING CO., LTD. has risen by 53.4%.
Among them, Zhong Kui holds a high proportion of 84.41% in NONGFU SPRING CO., LTD., as well as a 74.23% stake in Wantai Bio with a market capitalization of 85.41 billion yuan. By this calculation, the market capitalization of Zhong's holdings in the two listed companies is 502.5 billion yuan ($77 billion), higher than that of Mukesh Ambani, which is closely followed.
The third to fifth richest people in Asia are Huang Zheng, Ma Huateng and Jack Ma.
Compared with Jack Ma and Ma Huateng, Zhong Kui is less famous. Zhong Jiuyi does not like to appear in public, rarely gives public speeches and exclusive interviews, and his maverick personality has earned him the title of "lone wolf."
Zhong Kui once said bluntly: "people who are really in business will not show up too much."
