On November 16, McDonald's specialty coffee brand McCafé (McCafé) announced that it will invest 2.5 billion yuan over the next three years to accelerate the expansion of the coffee market in mainland China. It is estimated that by 2023, there will be more than 4,000 wheat coffee companies nationwide.
“The Chinese coffee market is booming, and consumers know more about coffee and prefer it.” Zhang Jiayin, CEO of McDonald's China, said, “Today, we are announcing a complete upgrade of McCoffee. In the future, we will invest more in new store development, equipment upgrades, personnel training, etc., with an estimated investment of about 2.5 billion yuan over three years. The goal is for places where there are McDonald's to have 'strong flavors' of McDonald's.”
This year, McDonald's will be the first to cover McDonald's restaurants in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and will enter the seven major cities of Nanjing, Hangzhou, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Tianjin, Chengdu, and Suzhou in 2021.
