According to people familiar with the matter, US private equity giant Carlyle Group is close to reaching an agreement to acquire Flender (Flender), a professional power transmission equipment manufacturer owned by Siemens, for about 2 billion euros (2.37 billion US dollars).

Sources said that Siemens and Carlyle are finalizing the terms of the deal and may announce a deal as early as this week.
