On September 17, the official microblog of the Wuchang District Government reported that on the evening of September 6, an accident occurred at the Hanxiu Theatre belonging to Wuhan Wanda Degong Performing Arts Co., Ltd., resulting in two deaths. Investigations into the cause of the accident and those responsible are currently under way. Wanda Degong and the families of the deceased have reached a compensation agreement.

According to the enterprise investigation, the company involved, Wuhan Wanda Degong Performing Arts Co., Ltd. was founded in 2012 with paid-in capital of 2 million yuan. The legal representative is Zeng Maojun, the president of Wanda Film, and is 100% owned by Dalian Wanda Group Consulting Service Co., Ltd. In December 2019, the company was administratively punished for violating the “Regulations on Hygiene Management in Public Places” and the “Implementation Rules of the Regulations on Hygiene Management in Public Places”.
