On September 15, the China Film Distribution and Screening Association published the “China Film Distribution and Screening Association's Guidelines for Resuming the Opening of Film Screening Venues for the Prevention and Control of the Epidemic” (third edition) through its official website. The “Guidelines” clearly stated in the “Audience Entry and Exit Management” section that, in principle, the attendance rate of each film screening venue should not exceed 75%.
Previously, cinemas across the country resumed work on July 20, stipulating that the attendance rate for each show should not exceed 30%. In mid-August, the movie theater attendance rate in most cities across the country increased from 30% to 50%. The maximum attendance rate for cinemas has been further raised after the resumption of work this time.
Zhongtai Securities believes that the long-standing backlog of movie demand and travel restrictions due to the epidemic, combined with high-profile content archiving, is expected to drive a further recovery in movie viewers and box office in the movie market.
Huaan Securities pointed out that as high-quality movies are scheduled for the National Day program one after another, real “retaliatory consumption” in the movie sector is expected to appear in the National Day program.
