Market Review on September 1st

Overnight US stocks were mixed, with the Nasdaq up 0.68 per cent to a record high, the S & P 500 down 0.22 per cent and the Dow Jones down 0.78 per cent. Apple Inc and Tesla, Inc. rose more than 3 per cent and 12 per cent respectively on the first day of the split.

The Hang Seng Index closed up 0.03 per cent at 25184 today. On the day, hot Hong Kong stocks rose collectively, XIAOMI rose nearly 9% and hit a new high, Meituan rose more than 3%, Tencent rose 1.6%, automobile stocks led the rise, Byd Company Limited rose 14%, gold stocks and catering stocks continued to build well, Zijin Mining Group rose 6%; beer, tobacco concepts, online education weakened.
