Macau Post and Telecommunications announced last night that CITIC Telecom International Holdings (01883.HK) subsidiary Macau Telecom had previously notified the government regarding its acquisition of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong's (00215.HK) subsidiary Hutchison Telephone (Macau). This share transfer primarily involves a change in shareholders of Hutchison Macau, which will continue to operate its network and provide services.
Additionally, SmarTone (Macau) ceased its local mobile communication services on November 11, 2024, with its users and operations fully transferred to Macau Telecom. Currently, the main operators in Macau's mobile telecommunications market are Macau Telecom and China Telecom.
