According to Zhitong Finance APP, on February 13, the Passenger Car Association released a fast report on the wholesale sales ranking of pickup truck manufacturers in January 2026. Pickup production and sales showed strong growth characteristics, with the pickup market selling 49,000 units in January 2026, a year-on-year increase of 22.5%, at a relatively high level compared to the same period in the past five years. In January 2026, pickup production reached 52,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 29.3%.
Great Wall Motors continues to maintain its leading position in the pickup market, with steady performance both domestically and internationally. Benefiting from continued year-on-year growth in exports, Great Wall Motors, SAIC Maxus, Jianghuai Automobile, Changan Automobile, and Zhengzhou Nissan performed strongly. In the domestic pickup retail market, GWM pickups, Jiangling Motors, Zhengzhou Nissan, Radar Automobiles, and Jiangxi Isuzu performed well, maintaining the domestic 'one superpower and multiple strong players' pattern in the pickup market.
Pickup exports: In January 2026, national pickup exports amounted to 28,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 12% and a month-on-month decrease of 13%. The proportion of industry exports remained at a high level. In 2024, pickup exports accounted for 45% of total pickup sales, reaching 50% in 2025, and hitting 54% in January 2026. A large number of new Chinese pickup brands have achieved strong growth through exports, driving an improvement in China's self-owned pickup exports.
New energy pickups: In January 2026, new energy pickup sales reached 6,000 units, increasing by 18% year-on-year and 6% month-on-month, showing a trend that significantly outpaced overall pickup market growth. With the surge in logistics demand for electric light trucks, electrification has become the best way to enhance road access rights for commercial vehicles. As electrification and passenger vehicle-oriented development progress, the pickup market is gradually improving. Among January 2026 new energy pickup sales: BYD pickups sold 3,150 units overseas, Geely Radar electric pickups sold 1,241 units, Zhengzhou Nissan sold 785 units, and Changan extended-range pickups sold 410 units. Other pickup companies also reported certain sales volumes of new energy vehicles. Alongside the domestic new energy pickup market gaining momentum and fostering market cultivation, it is expected that China's pickup industry will develop more rapidly to meet domestic and international demands.
