According to reports by the Macao Daily, operators in Macao's hotel industry have indicated that hotel reservation rates and travel agency bookings for the upcoming Spring Festival period are continuing to rise. It is expected that the hotel occupancy rate during the Spring Festival will exceed 90%, signaling a peak season for Macao’s tourism market.
Zhang Jianzhong, President of the Macao Hotel and Tourism Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of Macao China Travel Service, analyzed that this Lunar New Year benefits from several positive factors, including government-organized events such as the float parade and the Chinese New Year fair. The timing of the mainland's Spring Festival holiday coincides with the weekend, forming a nine-day consecutive holiday. This is anticipated to boost strong travel intentions among mainland tourists. The government has also been actively enhancing its domestic and overseas promotional efforts, which are expected to continue yielding results. He predicts that Macao’s Spring Festival tourism market will maintain robust momentum, with significant increases in border-crossing traffic, averaging over 150,000 people per day—an estimated 20% growth compared to the same period last year. Overall expectations for the tourism economy remain optimistic, bolstering industry confidence in the Lunar New Year market.
Morgan Stanley issued a research report stating that hotel occupancy rates in Macao during this year’s Lunar New Year period are expected to be similar to those during the October Golden Week last year, while the average daily room rate is projected to increase by 29% compared to last year’s Lunar New Year.
