According to the Passenger Car Association, the pickup truck market sold 52,000 units in December 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of 8.8%, reaching a high level over the past five years.

According to Zhitong Finance APP, the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) released the December 2025 wholesale sales ranking report for pickup truck manufacturers. In December 2025, the pickup truck market sold 52,000 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 8.8%, reaching a high level over the past five years. From January to December 2025, the pickup truck market sold 589,000 units, up 11.8% year-on-year. In December 2025, pickup production reached 48,000 units, growing by 5.2% year-on-year, maintaining a mid-to-high level over the past five years. From January to December 2025, the pickup truck market produced 575,000 units, increasing by 14% year-on-year.

Great Wall Motors continues to maintain a strong leadership position in the pickup truck sector, with stable performance both domestically and internationally. Driven by sustained export growth, Great Wall Motors, Changan Automobile, SAIC Maxus, JAC Motors, and Zhengzhou Nissan demonstrated robust performance. In the domestic retail pickup market, Great Wall Pickup, Jiangling Motors, Zhengzhou Nissan, Radar Auto, and Jiangxi Isuzu performed well, preserving the domestic “one dominant leader with multiple strong players” market structure. The main regions driving the pickup market are primarily in the southwest and northwest, where demand for pickups is higher. In December 2025, demand from the southwest and northwest accounted for 46% of total demand, forming two core markets, while pickup performance was weaker in Beijing-Tianjin-Shanxi-Hebei provinces. With the slowdown in the high growth rate of new energy pickups, the contribution of new energy vehicles to the pickup market is weaker than that of logistics electric vehicles.

Pickup exports: In December 2025, national pickup exports totaled 28,000 units, marking a year-on-year increase of 12% but a month-on-month decrease of 7%. The proportion of industry exports remained at a high level. From January to December 2025, pickup exports reached 300,000 units, growing by 21% year-on-year. In 2024, pickup exports accounted for 45% of total pickup sales, and from January to December 2025, this figure rose to 50%. Chinese domestic pickup brands have accelerated their exports, showing good growth.

New energy pickups: In December 2025, new energy pickup sales reached 6,000 units, representing a year-on-year decrease of 3% and a month-on-month decline of 30%. Cumulative sales from January to December 2025 amounted to 73,000 units, reflecting an impressive growth of 243%, significantly outpacing overall pickup market growth. Due to the surge in logistics demand for electric light trucks, electrification has proven to be the best way to enhance road rights for commercial vehicles. With the development of electrification and passenger vehicle-like features, the growth potential of the pickup market is gradually improving. In December 2025, among new energy pickup sales: Geely Radar Electric Pickup sold 2,092 units, BYD exported 1,200 units overseas, Zhengzhou Nissan sold 1,081 units, Changan Extended-Range Pickup sold 753 units, and Jiangling New Energy Pickup sold 285 units, with other pickup companies also achieving notable sales volumes. With the launch and maturation of the domestic new energy pickup market, it is expected that China’s pickup industry will develop rapidly to meet domestic and international demands.
