腾讯任宇昕:AI正“嵌入”各行各业 成为产业经济最大变量

腾讯科技 ·  Jul 9, 2020 12:28

TencentScience News, July 9, Tencent Chief Operating Officer Ren Yuxin, in Shanghai's “World”AIAt the opening ceremony of the “2020 Cloud Summit” of the conference, it was stated that “new infrastructure” will stimulate the ingenuity of a new generation of young people, and that the industrial Internet is bound to bring dreams to “digital natives”. It is believed that the digital world is a new home waiting for young people around the world to build together.

Ren Yuxin mentioned this point of view when delivering a speech entitled “Exploring New Opportunities and Issues in Artificial Intelligence”. He believes that AI technology is being deeply “embedded” in all walks of life and has become ubiquitous. The increasingly improved new infrastructure and industrial Internet will bring new volume to all walks of life and bring new growth to economic development.

He said that AI is not only changing the relationship between humans and machines, but it is also bringing about adjustments in human-to-human relationships. It is the biggest variable in our industrial economy, and the most important unknown in our social life. The new generation of young people must not only master the power of science and technology, but also think about cultural values. Both are equally important.

Ren Yuxin revealed that this year's League of Legends S10 World Finals is expected to overcome the epidemic and be held in Shanghai as scheduled. In order to support Shanghai in building a “global e-sports capital,” a series of important professional leagues from Tencent eSports will land in Shanghai one after another.

When talking about the relationship between games, e-sports, and AI development, he said that in the future, AI may reshape our game development, e-sports events, and even the entire digital culture industry. At the same time, games and e-sports provide an ideal testing ground for AI. For example, the “multi-agent game” in gaming and e-sports is also a problem that intelligent connected vehicles need to solve in reality.

Ma Huateng, chairman of the board of directors and CEO of Tencent, said in a greeting sent to the conference on the same day that at present, our unknown about new technologies such as artificial intelligence is still greater than what is known. Tencent incorporates “technology for good” into the company's mission and vision: we research and apply new technology every day, and at the end of the day, we are responsible for every user. If we want to achieve “AI for good,” we must strive to make artificial intelligence “known, controllable, usable, and reliable.” This is a common issue facing the whole world.

Ren Yuxin believes that the “Four Permits” principle will urge us to continuously consider and resolve new issues such as privacy security, algorithmic discrimination, and the digital divide when using AI, and strive to achieve “transparency, inclusion, responsibility, and security.

As early as 2012, Tencent laid out artificial intelligence projects in Shanghai, focusing oncomputersVision's Tencent Youtu Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and Tencent Security Cohen Lab, which focuses on information security, are both located in Shanghai. In recent years, Tencent has continued to increase its investment in East China and is committed to developing digital economy-related industries and businesses such as artificial intelligence, cloud, big data, culture and creativity, games, and e-sports. Utu Labs currently holds more than 800 AI-related patents, and its research results have set world records in international authoritative artificial intelligence competitions many times.Reading Text GroupAs a genuine digital reading platform and literary IP cultivation platform leading the domestic industry, it has a reserve of 12.2 million works, 8.1 million creators, covering more than 200 content categories, reaching hundreds of millions of users, and has successfully exported a large number of representative IP adaptations in the fields of film, television, animation, games, etc.

Good morning to all leaders, guests, and media friends!

I am very happy to represent Tencent at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference! I was very inspired by the wonderful comments of the leaders and guests just now. Shanghai is probably the city where I travel the most. More and more of our important businesses are choosing to land in Shanghai. Over the past few years, we've invested in dozens of startups in Shanghai. Today, many companies have grown into indispensable ecological partners.

Mr. Ma Huateng, chairman of the board of directors and CEO of Tencent, we like to call him Pony. Unfortunately, due to physical reasons, he was unable to come to the scene today as in previous years. He asked me to bring greetings to everyone. Below is a greeting from Pony through the Cloud.

Greetings from Ma Huateng, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Tencent:

Hello everyone! Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the conference in Shanghai this year. However, the “Cloud Summit” broke through the “face-to-face” limit and turned the whole world into a venue, allowing us to participate “screen to screen” in this grand event.

Artificial intelligence itself is a multinational, interdisciplinary scientific exploration project. It is driving human perception towards “faster, higher, and stronger,” and is bound to bring us a revolution in technology and industry that has never been seen before. Currently, we still don't know more about new technologies such as artificial intelligence than we already know. Therefore, Tencent has incorporated “technology for good” into the company's mission and vision: we research and apply new technology every day, and at the end of the day, we are responsible for every user. If we want to achieve “AI for good,” we must strive to make artificial intelligence “known, controllable, usable, and reliable.” This is a common issue facing the whole world.

As a frontier window for China's reform and opening up, Shanghai provides us with a platform for cooperation and exchange in solving “world-class” problems. Next, Tencent's East China headquarters will further take root in Shanghai and become one of the builders of Shanghai's artificial intelligence highland. We will accelerate investment in “new infrastructure” and work with Shanghai to “cultivate new opportunities in the midst of crisis and open up a new situation in the midst of change” to inject new momentum into the integrated development of Shanghai and even the Yangtze River Delta.

Today, I specially invited my colleague Ren Yuxin, chief operating officer of Tencent, to the scene to introduce Tencent's latest thinking in the field of artificial intelligence. We will also be bringing the “Tencent Forum” tomorrow, where Tang Daosheng, senior executive vice president of Tencent, and his colleagues will have more to share. I wish the conference every success! (end)

Pony mentioned earlier that Tencent hopes to work with Shanghai to “cultivate new opportunities in the midst of crisis and open up a new situation in the midst of change.” Today, I'd like to share with you our thoughts and explorations in the field of artificial intelligence with three “new” ones.

The first new one is New Growth (New Growth). The normalization of the epidemic has made it very challenging for us to resume work and resume production. In order to ensure the smooth flow of “logistics, capital, and information,” AI has played an important role. For example, Shanghai's Yutu Artificial Intelligence Laboratory provided Sinotrans with OCR (optical character recognition) technology to replace manual entry of logistics documents; the Tencent security team helped small and micro enterprises obtain “zero contact” online credit services; and the Tencent Simultaneous Transfer on our screen, if combined with the Tencent conference, corporate WeChat, and other powerful tools to resume work, it can hold international meetings anytime, anywhere without restrictions on venue, transportation, or language.

In the face of the epidemic, the development of new drugs often takes more than 10 years. Recently, Tencent launched the artificial intelligence drug discovery platform “Yunshen Zhiyao”, which is fully open to researchers. We hope to use machine learning to reduce the time it takes to develop new drugs. Currently, everyone is working hard to identify effective drugs to fight the coronavirus.

As a result of this epidemic, China no longer has a purely traditional industry. In February of this year, when the domestic fight against the epidemic was most intense, the code farmers at Tencent AI Lab were actually programmers working as farmers. They tried to experiment with growing tomatoes remotely in a greenhouse in Liaoning. Despite the cold weather, the experimental team was able to adjust the temperature in real time through AI algorithms. At the end of the pilot, we discovered that the experimental team could increase net profit by several thousand yuan per mu. Tencent also co-hosted a greenhouse planting competition with Dutch universities. The AI of the five rematch teams won over Chengdu's agricultural expert group with 20 years of planting experience.

We believe that AI technology is being deeply “embedded” in all walks of life and has become ubiquitous. The increasingly improved new infrastructure and industrial Internet will bring new volume to all walks of life and new growth to economic development.

The second new one is New Games (New Games). In addition to games, games also have the meaning of games and games.

Tencent is fully supporting Shanghai in building a “global e-sports capital.” Currently, Tencent eSports has established a remote production center for League of Legends and Wang Zhe Rongyao in Shanghai. They are the most professional production and broadcasting centers in the world. A series of important professional leagues for Tencent eSports will land in Shanghai one after another. This year, we are also actively preparing for the League of Legends S10 World Finals, hoping to overcome the pandemic and successfully be held in Shanghai.

The e-sports industry, which has huge potential, will not only bring us economic value. In the eyes of players and spectators, e-sports is a game; in the eyes of AI experts, it is also a “multi-agent game.” In the development of AI, the iconic AlphaGo was born in the ancient Chinese game scene of Go. Tencent first developed Go AI Stunning, which has won consecutive world championships. Currently, the Chinese national Go team is using excellent skills for team member training, and has achieved good results. After solving the Go problem, multiplayer tactical competitive games (MOBAs) became an important scenario for us to study the complex decision-making capabilities of AI. In 2018, our Wang Zhe Rongyao AI “Absolutely Enlightened” passed the test of the human team. In 2019, it reached the professional level of e-sports, and is currently sprinting towards the top professional level.

It is worth mentioning that we have also developed “Digital Man Ailing” by exploring cutting-edge topics such as multi-modality. Not only can she explain e-sports and teach children to sing and dance, but she also has more and more abilities to simulate humans. According to this trend, characters in future novels, movies, animations, and games are likely to break out of specific works, like our friends in real life, exchange emotions with us and help us come up with suggestions and suggestions. For example, if you encounter setbacks and difficulties at work, in addition to talking to friends on WeChat, you may also want to chat with the smart and open-minded Fan in “Celebrate the New Year.” Tencent and our Shanghai Reading Group are exploring the creation of virtual IP.

In the future, AI may reshape our game development, e-sports events, and even the entire digital culture industry. At the same time, games and e-sports provide an ideal testing ground for AI. For example, the “multi-agent game” in gaming and e-sports is also a problem that intelligent connected vehicles need to solve in reality. Currently, we have tried to use the technical advantages of the game field to build a simulation environment for car manufacturers to improve the testing efficiency and safety of autonomous driving.

I believe that the highland of artificial intelligence and the global e-sports capital do not exist in isolation; they will find a point of intersection in Shanghai in the future.

The third new one is “New Generation” (New Generation). Today's e-sports athletes are mostly “post-95.” We call them “digital natives.”

In our view, “new infrastructure” will stimulate the ingenuity of a new generation of young people, and the industrial Internet is bound to bring a stage of dreams to “digital natives.” In just the first four months of this year, the number of jobs in the WeChat ecosystem increased by nearly 600,000, becoming a new stage for college graduates to find employment. We believe that the digital world is a new home waiting for young people around the world to build together.

In his greeting, Pony proposed the “Four Possible” principles for “AI for the good.” It urges us to continuously consider and resolve new issues such as privacy security, algorithmic discrimination, and the digital divide when using AI, and strive to achieve “transparency, inclusiveness, responsibility and security.” AI is not only changing the relationship between humans and machines, but it is also bringing about adjustments in human-to-human relationships. It is the biggest variable in our industrial economy, and the most important unknown in our social life. The new generation of young people must not only master the power of science and technology, but also think about cultural values. Both are equally important.

Innovation is making Shanghai more attractive. In recent years, Shanghai's unicorn companies have sprung up endlessly. Not only do we seeMeituan reviews,PinduoduoThe rapid growth of enterprises such as Xiaohongshu, Yuewen Group, and Bilibili has also seen Shanghai's “open, inclusive and innovative” urban character. We believe that the city's innovation potential has only just been unleashed. In the future, it will definitely create a new history at the intersection of the river of science and technology and the sea of culture. Tencent hopes to take root in Shanghai and make history! Thank you all!
