According to Zhitong Finance APP, on December 15, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed that in November, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 4.3898 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.3%. Excluding automobiles, the retail sales of consumer goods amounted to 3.9444 trillion yuan, up by 2.5%. From January to November, the total retail sales of consumer goods were 45.6067 trillion yuan, increasing by 4.0%. Excluding automobiles, the retail sales of consumer goods were 41.1637 trillion yuan, growing by 4.6%.

Retail Sales of Consumer Goods Increased by 1.3% in November 2025
In November, the total retail sales of consumer goods were 4.3898 trillion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 1.3%. Excluding automobiles, the retail sales of consumer goods were 3.9444 trillion yuan, growing by 2.5%. From January to November, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 45.6067 trillion yuan, with an increase of 4.0%. Excluding automobiles, the retail sales of consumer goods amounted to 41.1637 trillion yuan, up by 4.6%.
By location of business units, in November, the retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas were 3.7684 trillion yuan, up by 1.0% year-on-year; while in rural areas, the retail sales of consumer goods were 621.4 billion yuan, increasing by 2.8%. From January to November, the retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas were 39.4544 trillion yuan, growing by 3.9%; whereas in rural areas, the retail sales of consumer goods were 6.1523 trillion yuan, rising by 4.4%.
By type of consumption, in November, the retail sales of commodities were 3.7841 trillion yuan, marking a year-on-year growth of 1.0%; while revenue from catering services was 605.7 billion yuan, up by 3.2%. From January to November, the retail sales of commodities totaled 40.3822 trillion yuan, increasing by 4.1%; and the revenue from catering services amounted to 5.2245 trillion yuan, growing by 3.3%.
By retail format, from January to November, among enterprises above the designated size in the retail industry, the retail sales of convenience stores, supermarkets, department stores, specialized stores, and branded specialty stores increased by 6.0%, 4.7%, 0.7%, 3.4%, and 0.1%, respectively, year-on-year.
From January to November, the national online retail sales reached 14.4582 trillion yuan, growing by 9.1% year-on-year. Among these, the online retail sales of physical goods amounted to 11.8193 trillion yuan, up by 5.7%, accounting for 25.9% of the total retail sales of consumer goods; within the online retail sales of physical goods, food products, clothing, and daily-use items increased by 14.9%, 3.5%, and 4.4%, respectively.
