According to Sina Technology News on the afternoon of June 24,AmazonsA global anti-counterfeiting team was announced to crack down on counterfeiters who violate laws and regulations and Amazon Marketplace rules and bring them to justice. The team consists of former US federal prosecutors, senior investigators, and data analysts.
According to reports, Amazon's primary goal is to prevent counterfeit products from being listed on the Amazon Marketplace. In 2019, Amazon invested more than 0.5 billion US dollars globally to crack down on fraud, including counterfeiting. More than 8,000 employees participated, blocked a total of more than 6 billion suspected defective products, and blocked more than 2.5 million accounts suspected of bad behavior from posting products for sale.
In addition, Amazon's global anti-counterfeiting team will investigate cases related to the listing of counterfeit products, help Amazon file lawsuits against counterfeiters, support joint or independent investigations by brands, and assist law enforcement officials to crack down on counterfeit sales on a global scale.
Dharmesh Mehta, vice president of Amazon's global customer trust and partner support team, said, “No matter where counterfeiters try to sell fakes or where they are, they will be severely punished by relevant laws. We are making every effort to disrupt these criminal networks, and we are grateful to the relevant law enforcement agencies around the world for their work in fighting counterfeiting. We still hope that governments will further invest in investigation tools, funds and resources for these law enforcement agencies and bring counterfeiters to justice. Enforcement actions such as legal litigation and asset freezing are one of the most effective ways to combat illegal counterfeiting sales.” (He Chang)
