ETF Midday Review | All popular themes see a full-scale pullback! Lithium Battery ETF plunges over 6%, Integrated Circuit ETF retreats 5%.

Gelonghui, October 10 | A-share markets collectively fell during early trading. As of the midday break, the Shanghai Composite Index dropped by 0.51%, the Shenzhen Component Index declined by 1.85%, the ChiNext Index fell by 3.4%, and the STAR 50 Index plunged by 4.64%. The total turnover of the Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Beijing markets reached RMB 1.6561 trillion in the morning session, representing a decrease of RMB 70.8 billion compared to the previous session. Over 2,300 stocks across the market recorded declines. Recent popular themes experienced a broad pullback, with lithium batteries, precious metals, and semiconductor-related industries leading the losses. Both SMIC and CATL plummeted by more than 6%. On the upside, sectors such as gas, textile manufacturing, power grid equipment, coal, cement and building materials, and dairy products registered gains. In the ETF space, the construction materials sector moved higher against the trend, with the E Fund Construction Materials ETF, Guotai Fund Construction Materials ETF, and Fuguo Fund Construction Materials ETF all rising by 2%. The coal and weather-sensitive sectors also performed well, with Guotai Fund Coal ETF and Invesco Great Wall Fund Oil & Gas ETF increasing by 1.73% and 1.49%, respectively. The lithium battery sector suffered heavy losses, with the Lithium Battery ETF, Harvest Battery ETF, and other similar products falling over 6%. The semiconductor sector underwent a comprehensive retreat, with the Integrated Circuit ETF and STAR Chip 50 ETF dropping by 5.79% and 5.67%, respectively.
