Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs: Strongly Support Xinjiang in Enhancing Grain Production Capacity and Further Consolidating Xinjiang's Advantage in Cotton Production

Gelonghui, September 28 – Han Jun, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, presided over a meeting of the Party Leadership Group on September 28. The meeting emphasized the need to strongly support Xinjiang in enhancing grain production capacity. This includes guiding and supporting Xinjiang to fully explore its potential for increasing grain output, focusing on improving yields of large-scale oilseed and cereal crops, promoting comprehensive yield-enhancing technology models tailored to local conditions, steadily advancing the improvement of saline-alkali farmland, increasing investment in high-standard farmland construction, and vigorously developing highly efficient water-saving agriculture to ensure production aligns with water resource availability for sustainable capacity growth. Efforts must also be accelerated in creating core cottonseed sources and cultivating major new varieties to further consolidate and enhance Xinjiang's advantages in cotton production. Additionally, strong support should be provided for Xinjiang to develop distinctive competitive industries such as organic fruits and vegetables and high-quality livestock products, addressing challenges and facilitating transformation and upgrading in the beef and dairy cattle sectors, and promoting high-quality development of modern facility agriculture.
