The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the United States Highway SafetyInsuranceDriven by the Association (IIHS), 20 automakers, including Volkswagen, General Motors and Toyota, have signed an agreement in the United States to make the automatic emergency braking system (AEB) standard for new cars by 2022.

AEB can reduce rear-end crashes by 40 per cent, attracting the attention of US government departments and car companies. For the smooth implementation of AEB standard configuration, NHTSA and IIHS will monitor the progress of car companies in the implementation of AEB standard configuration, and the major car companies will also disclose their annual progress. AEB is the core function of Intelligent driving Assistance system (ADAS), which is composed of "environment awareness module, control module and execution module". The standard configuration of AEB helps to improve the intelligence of bicycles and promote the pace of intelligent driving industry. Assuming that 90% of new cars in the United States are equipped with AEB by 2022, the market capacity is expected to reach hundreds of billions of yuan.

The AEB executive module can realize braking through anti-lock braking system (ABS), body stabilization system (ESP) and electronic vacuum booster (EVP).
