Financial News Agency, June 12 (Editor: Xia Junxiong) $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$ CEO Jensen Huang stated on Thursday that in the coming years, autonomous vehicles and robot technology will thrive.
Huang expressed this view at the Viva Tech Technology Conference held in Paris, stating: "This is the decade of autonomous vehicles, robots, and automation machines."
As the largest chip giant globally, NVIDIA plays an important role in promoting the development of autonomous vehicles, providing both hardware and software solutions.
Autonomous vehicles are becoming increasingly common. Waymo, a subsidiary of Google, is operating an unmanned taxi service in parts of San Francisco, Phoenix, and Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Chinese companies such as Baidu and Pony.ai are also operating their own fleets of autonomous vehicles.
In contrast, the development of autonomous driving in Europe has been much slower, primarily due to the unclear related regulations that make it difficult for autonomous technology companies to officially launch their products in the market.
However, this technology is gradually gaining attention in Europe. In the United Kingdom, the Autonomous Vehicles Act has been officially legislated to pave the way for autonomous vehicles on the road before 2026.
On Tuesday, the online car-hailing giant Uber Technologies announced a partnership with the UK autonomous driving technology company Wayve, planning to launch a fully autonomous driving pilot project in the United Kingdom in the spring of 2026.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated on the social media platform X on Wednesday that he is waiting for the approval from Dutch authorities and the EU for Tesla's application of Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology.
Tesla has recently begun testing Robotaxi (autonomous taxis) in Austin, Texas, with the first batch of test vehicles being Model Y cars marked with 'Robotaxi,' accompanied by another Model Y serving as a monitoring vehicle. It is reported that about 10 autonomous vehicles will be deployed in the initial phase of Robotaxi testing, and the decision to scale up will be based on testing feedback.
It is worth mentioning that Musk expressed views similar to those of Jensen Huang last month. He stated that, for Tesla, the most important things in the long run are autonomous driving and humanoid robots like Optimus.
