The sudden outbreak posed significant social and economic challenges, and the banking industry was also traumatized. Recently, some banks announced the cancellation of their dividend payment plans, but others still insist on paying dividends. For the six major domestic banks, namely Industrial and Commercial Bank (01398-HK), Agricultural Bank (01288-HK), Bank of China (03988-HK), China Construction Bank (00939-HK), Bank of Communications (03328-HK), and China Merchants Bank (03968-HK), the dividend payout ratio remained at 30% or above. Among them, China Merchants Bank's dividend payout ratio was higher than the five major state-owned banks, reaching 33%.
