In terms of news, recently, the Xiaomi SU7 incident has raised public concerns about the safety of Asia Vets driver assistance systems. According to an analysis by a smart driving technician quoted by Jiemian News, the standard version of Xiaomi SU7 does not have Lidar, and the pure visual mode performs relatively poorly in identifying obstacles at night, which may lead to issues with timely and accurate obstacle recognition.
Insiders indicate that the current BEV + OCC intelligent driving solution generates a BEV bird's-eye view of the vehicle's surrounding environment through multi-sensor fusion technology, and then reconstructs the surrounding environment in three dimensions using OCC occupancy network technology to identify passable and impassable spatial areas. This requires high technical thresholds and computational power support, especially in the inference efficiency of edge devices. Meanwhile, there may be risks of false positives and missed detections for some small and irregular obstacles.
Sinolink believes that Lidar has become the mainstream solution; currently, the vast majority of high-end autonomous driving models in China are equipped with Lidar. Lidar has high environmental perception accuracy, can directly obtain information such as the distance, angle, reflection intensity, and speed of targets, and has strong anti-interference capability. Most domestic manufacturers adopt a multi-Sensor fusion technology route, especially those models targeting high-end NOA functions typically feature Lidar. Only a few car manufacturers are mimicking Tesla to explore visual solutions by removing Lidar and rely on millimeter wave radar and cameras among other sensors for perception.
Sinolink stated that as the cost of Lidar continues to decrease, technical maturity improves, and autonomous driving functions advance, the number of vehicles equipped with Lidar is expected to increase in the coming years, further boosting the growth potential of Lidar. Guosen noted that according to Gao Gong Intelligence, in 2024, the main suppliers of Lidar for domestic Passenger Vehicles will be Suteng Juchuang, Huawei, and Hesai Technology, with market shares of 33%, 28%, and 26% respectively. As a leading Lidar company, it is also expected to benefit from the development of the Industry.
