He mentioned that while a fourth competitor might emerge, the market typically can only accommodate a few winners, and currently, DeepSeek is viewed most favorably:
"Indeed, there may still be a fourth (competitor), but in most markets, there will ultimately only be two winners. The first makes a lot of money, and the second breaks even."
"DeepSeek has the strongest momentum currently, which is why we chose their model to launch the product."
He also emphasized that competition in the AI industry remains very fierce, and it is expected that major companies will continue to release new products and features:
"I expect that rapidly developing companies will continue to frequently release new products, especially xAI and DeepSeek."
Li Kaifu added that OpenAI, Alibaba, Google, and Anthropic are all maintaining a steady growth momentum.
In the interview, Kai-Fu Lee emphasized that although ByteDance may not be on the radar of most people, he remains Bullish on ByteDance because it has invested massive resources in the field of large models.
Kai-Fu Lee believes that daring to invest a large amount of money in cutting-edge model exploration is based on a very reasonable logic, which is having a large number of users. When the massive costs incurred are spread over a substantial user platform that can generate profits, the business model can be established.
ByteDance is a great example; they have a huge user base and diversified monetization channels, so their large models are also expected to succeed in the future.
Today, after hitting the high near 24,000 in the early session and entering bearish positions, the index fell sharply by nearly over 600 points, immediately recouping yesterday's losses significantly.
