Although there is limited profit contribution in the short term, due to the increasing market attention on the white goods Industry and AI/Siasun Robot&Automation themes, the stock price of Midea may continue to rise in the short term.
Midea Group's significant layout in the robot sector has attracted widespread attention from the market. UBS Group stated that entering the humanoid robot market will allow the company to fully utilize its existing supply chain resources. Although the contribution to profitability is limited in the short term, the company's stock price may continue to rise in the short term due to increasing market attention to the White Appliances Industry and AI/Robot themes.
On March 18th, Midea Group showcased its independently developed humanoid robot prototype for the first time. This robot demonstrated impressive versatility, capable of performing various actions such as shaking hands, handing water, making a heart gesture, dancing, opening bottles, and screwing. Following the announcement, Midea Group's A-share stock price surged over 4% that day, and the Hong Kong stock increased by as much as 10%, reflecting the market’s high recognition of Midea's strategic layout in the robot sector.
In a report released on March 19, UBS Group provided a positive assessment of Midea Group's robot business. UBS analysts believe that Midea's participation in the humanoid robot sector is not surprising, as it is a market with enormous potential, and Midea can leverage its existing supply chain resources.
Analysts indicated that by 2035, the humanoid robot market in China is expected to reach a scale of 200-300 billion yuan. Domestic companies focus more on hardware and system integration capabilities, and the Industry has already attracted many cross-industry participants, including Xiaomi and ZhiMi (a manufacturer of robotic vacuums).
UBS Group stated that according to Midea Group’s CTO, the company's robot team is currently focused on the following areas:
1. Core components of humanoid robots: including reducers, Electric Machines, Sensors, and controllers, these components are currently being tested on internal robot prototypes.
2. The humanoid robot system itself: preliminary applications may be in the B2B sector.
3. The robotization of home appliance products: integrating AI and robotics technology (such as visual systems, mechanical arms, and human-computer interaction) into household products.
However, UBS Group also acknowledges that Midea's robots are still in the prototype stage and will not make a significant contribution to profitability in the short term. However, due to the rising market interest in the White Appliances sector (recent market feedback has been positive) and AI/robotics themes, the stock price trend may continue for a period, similar to Ecovacs (whose stock price increased by 39% year-to-date), that has a series of investments in the robot supply chain field.
In Midea's traditional Sector of White Appliances, UBS Group also maintains a relatively optimistic attitude. Analysts expect that, benefiting from the continuous improvement in retail sales during the peak season for Air Conditioners and possibly higher dividend payments, investors will refocus on the White Appliances sector before the Earnings Reports season to achieve steady profit growth.
Today, after hitting the high near 24,000 in the early session and entering bearish positions, the index fell sharply by nearly over 600 points, immediately recouping yesterday's losses significantly.
Moreover, today it broke the new high again, reaching a maximum of 24,076, but by the end of the market, it fell back by about 70 points, producing a bearish candle. The current trend has not yet been broken, but from the previous low until now, it has risen close to 6,000 points. It is believed that those with positions can continue to hold until there is a clear trend reversal for profit-taking. Those without positions can wait for a pullback to get in. Actually, it is hoped for a quick pullback, as it allows for entry and also provides a healthy breath.
Currently, the outlook remains the same as before. It is believed that even if there is a pullback, it shouldn't be too deep. However, if Futures fail to stabilize and close below 22,350, there may still be room for decline. The chance of Futures falling below 21,400 in the short term should be low, so it is considered that if a significant pullback occurs, it presents a good opportunity to incrementally go long. Recently, there has been a consistent approach to not hold positions overnight, only focusing on immediate trades, as there is no high chasing and no casual short selling.
