Housing and Local Council Minister Nga Kor Ming projects property sales in the country to exceed RM180 billion this year across all sectors given the robust performance of the industry.
The Minister said the efforts could be made possible with activities like the ASEAN Real Estate Conference organised by REHDA and other events throughout the period in which Malaysia is the chair for ASEAN this year.
In 2024 total real estate sales hit RM223.2 billion which was 18% higher compared to RM196,8 billion achieved in the previous year.
During his speech, the Minister also called on developers to consider building homes with senior citizens in mind considering the ageing population or those above 60 could reach 14.5% by 2040 however, only 2.1% of houses are being promoted for this community.
