The government's investment in Sapura Energy Bhd is not a write-off but a financial injection aimed at assisting vendors and will need to be repaid, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Speaking at the Meeting with the Ministry of Finance Staff & Agencies with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, he emphasised that the move was not a bailout but a necessary measure to support businesses linked to the company while ensuring financial accountability.
"The investment in Sapura Energy is not burnt money; it is an injection to help vendors and must be repaid," he said.
The Prime Minister's remarks come amid ongoing efforts to stabilise the struggling oil and gas service provider while safeguarding the interests of stakeholders involved.
