On Friday, USA electric vehicle Battery manufacturer $Microvast (MVST.US)$ announced an important milestone in the development of its Solid State Battery technology, which led to a boost in the company's stock price, increasing by over 50% at one point during trading and now up over 40%.
Microvast stated in a press release that unlike traditional lithium-ion or semi-solid Batteries, the company's ASSB adopts a bipolar stacked architecture that allows internal series connections within a single Battery cell.
Traditional lithium-ion and semi-solid Batteries are limited by liquid electrolytes, typically operating at a nominal voltage of 3.2V to 3.7V per Battery. In contrast, Microvast's technology eliminates liquid electrolytes.
According to the company, this breakthrough allows a single Battery to achieve tens of volts or higher voltage levels based on specific application needs.
Microvast CEO Yang Wu stated: "Our Solid State Battery innovation has made significant advances in addressing real-world safety and efficiency challenges."
