Elon Musk's generative AI startup xAI officially released the Grok chatbot's standalone application in the App Store this week.
According to Zhizhong Finance APP, Elon Musk's generative AI startup xAI officially released the Grok chatbot's standalone application in the App Store this week. The launch of this application has been quite low-key, essentially being the same version of the chatbot available to X Premium and Premium+ users. It allows users to freely access xAI's latest model Grok 2, which includes features such as image generation, real-time access to the web and X social network, as well as a focus on privacy. xAI also stated that Grok has a 'humorous' and conversational tone, distinguishing it from other AI chatbots.
In November last year, reports indicated that xAI was developing a standalone Grok application. Following the release of this application, X, also operated by Musk, sent users a PUSH notification informing them to download the new xAI Grok application. Grok is currently launched in the USA in the form of an iOS application and standalone web application, and it will eventually be launched in other countries.
xAI, led by Musk, recently secured new funding of $6 billion, bringing the Company's Valuation to $50 billion. Musk stated in an article on X that part of the new funds will be used for xAI's large Datacenter in Memphis, which will utilize 100,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs. The construction process for the center took 122 days.
In July of this year, Musk stated that he would submit his idea of investing $5 billion from Tesla into xAI to the Board of Directors of the electric car manufacturer, after the idea received nearly two-thirds of the votes in an online poll.
