Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 electric sedan has seen its price hiked and the entry-level version get a range upgrade as the facelifted Model Y is launched in China.
The Model 3 continues to be offered in three variants in China -- an entry level rear-wheel drive version, a long-range all-wheel drive version, and an all-wheel drive performance version -- and the prices have all been hiked by RMB 3,600 yuan ($490) today, according to CnEVPost's monitoring.
Specifically, the price of the entry-level Model 3 has been increased by 1.55 percent to RMB 235,500 from RMB 231,900 previously.
The price of the long-range all-wheel-drive Model 3 has been increased by 1.32 percent to RMB 275,500 from RMB 271,900 previously.
The price of the all-wheel drive performance version Model 3 has been increased by 1.07 percent to RMB 339,500 from RMB 335,900 previously.
The entry-level variant gets a range upgrade, with the CLTC range increasing by 28 km to 634 kilometers from 606 kilometers previously. The performance of the variant remains unchanged, with the 0 to 100 kilometers per hour acceleration time remaining at 6.1 seconds.
The CLTC range of the other two variants are unchanged at 713 km and 623 km respectively. Their other core specifications remain unchanged as well.
The delivery wait times for all three variants of the Model 3 in China remain 1-3 weeks, as before.
Earlier today, Tesla launched the revamped Model Y in China, offering two variants it calls the "Launch Series", with deliveries expected to begin in March.
The two Model Y variants include a rear-wheel drive version that starts at RMB 263,500 and a long-range all-wheel drive version that starts at RMB 303,500.
The entry-level version of the facelifted Model Y is priced up by RMB 13,600, or 5.44 percent, over its predecessor, while the long-range all-wheel-drive version is up by RMB 12,600, or 4.33 percent.
The sales deadline for the Launch Series of the facelifted Model Y is February 28, and customers who order the model before then can get an extended warranty for an additional 2 years or 40,000 kilometers.
Tesla has a factory in Shanghai that began operations at the end of 2019 and started deliveries of the locally produced Model 3 in January 2020 and the locally produced Model Y in January 2021.
On October 19, 2023, Tesla officially began selling the updated Model 3 in China, bringing some exterior and configuration changes.
