① Musk co-hosted a program on the X platform with Alice Weidel, the leader of the German far-right party Alternative für Deutschland, urging Germans to vote for the party in the general election; ② Musk complained about the current German government's severe bureaucracy and 'crazy' energy policies; ③ European leaders expressed concern over Musk's interference in European politics.
According to Financial Link on January 10 (Editor Liu Rui), after helping Trump win the USA election, Musk's interest in politics seems to be growing stronger.
As the German election approaches, Musk has recently not only openly voiced support for the far-right German party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) but also invited the AfD leader to his X platform for an online talk show, seemingly 'replicating' his invitation to Trump for an online talk when he supported Trump last year.
Musk strongly supports the far-right party in Germany.
On Thursday Eastern Time, Elon Musk hosted a broadcasting program on his social media platform X with Alice Weidel, the leader of the Alternative für Deutschland and prime minister candidate, urging Germans to vote for the party in the upcoming national election.
It is worth mentioning that in August 2024, just before the USA elections, Musk also had a similar talk broadcast with Trump on X. Recently, he has started to openly support the Alternative für Deutschland party ahead of the national election in Germany on February 23.
On the X platform, Musk introduced the Alternative für Deutschland to the audience. In this broadcasting conversation, both laughed and agreed that Germany is being dragged down by 'crazy' energy policies, excessive bureaucracy, and uncontrolled immigration.
Musk stated plainly: 'People really need to support the Alternative für Deutschland, otherwise the situation in Germany will become very, very bad... I believe Alice Weidel is a very rational person. There is nothing excessive in her proposals.'
I strongly advise people to vote for the Choose Party,” Musk bluntly stated after about half an hour of discussion, “This is my strong recommendation.
Weidel expressed her gratitude for Musk's support in fluent English. She stated that the opportunity to speak with Musk was the first time in ten years she was allowed to express her views on a platform free from media interference, and she complained that the media world was biased against her.
People like to censor things they disagree with,” Musk agreed.
Musk complained about the current German government.
Musk also recalled the bureaucratic obstacles he faced when opening the Tesla factory in Germany. Musk opened Tesla's first factory in Europe in Germany in 2022.
I think our permit was 0.025 million pages. And it all had to be printed on paper,” Musk complained, “Then there were a lot of photocopies… So it was actually a truckload of paper.
In terms of Energy, Musk supports Germany's ambitions for Wind Power but agrees with Weidel that closing nuclear power plants is a bad idea.
When I saw Germany shutting down power plants after cutting off gas supplies from Russia, I thought… this is one of the craziest things I've ever seen,” he said.
Currently in the German elections, the AfD ranks second in opinion polls, but has almost no chance of forming a government as other parties refuse to cooperate with them.
Leaders in Europe are feeling concerned.
As Musk extends his influence over European politics, leaders in various European countries have recently expressed their worries.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez accused Musk of undermining democracy, while the French Foreign Minister urged the EU to more effectively use its laws to prevent external interference.
Musk, who identifies as a liberal, directly criticized German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier as a 'tyrant' attacking the German party of new choices, and called for German Chancellor Scholz to resign after a deadly auto attack in a German Christmas market.
In response, German Chancellor Scholz stated: 'I don't think we should cater to Musk. In Germany, things depend on the will of the citizens, not the words of American billionaires.' He also expressed that compared to Musk's personal attacks against him, he is more concerned that 'Musk would choose to support far-right parties like the German party of new choices.'
