The construction for Gamuda Bhd's 158ha world-class cloud and data centre (DC) infrastructure will be officially underway after the construction company held a groundbreaking ceremony with the Negeri Sembilan state government earlier today.
The ceremony was officiated by Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
The event was held after Gamuda's wholly owned subsidiary, Gamuda DC DC Infrastructure Sdn Bhd, acquired 158ha of freehold agriculture land for RM424.4 million cash from West Synergy Sdn Bhd on Dec 30, 2024, to develop world-class cloud and DC infrastructure.
Apart from the groundbreaking ceremony, Gamuda and Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan Incorporated (MBINS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to construct a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) with a capacity of 65 million litres per day.
The WTP will not only serve as the main water supply for the DC in Negeri Sembilan but most importantly 25% of the WTP's capacity will be allocated to the people of Negeri Sembilan for their domestic use, providing a reliable water supply for the state.
Under the MOU, it is stated that the asset and land will remain under MBINS.
Gamuda said the construction of the WTP is strategic and complements the DC project to ensure the facilities can operate optimally.
"Importantly, this is a proactive step to ensure water security for the state with reliable clean water supply in Port Dickson and the surrounding areas, reducing the rate of water supply disruption here.
"This is a win-win partnership between the state and Gamuda," it said.
