General Motors has been accused of defects in the transmission systems of certain models from its defunct GM Holden brand.
According to Zhitong Finance APP, the Australian law firm Maurice Blackburn has filed a class action lawsuit against the local subsidiary of the USA auto manufacturer General Motors (GM.US), accusing it of defects in the Transmission systems of certain models of the now-defunct General Holden brand. The lawsuit concerns consumers who purchased these models between January 1, 2011, and December 24, 2024.
Maurice Blackburn stated that the defects in the Transmission have caused various issues, including intermittent transmission shudder and automatic transmission fluid leaks. The law firm also pointed out that General Motors failed to comply with the acceptable quality guarantee mandated by the Australian Consumer Law, and there were misleading and deceptive conduct.
General Motors has not yet commented on this lawsuit.
It is worth noting that General Motors ceased production of its Holden brand in 2021 due to a drastic decline in sales, making further investment in the production of right-hand drive vehicles no longer viable.
The purpose of this class action lawsuit is to seek compensation for losses and damages for affected consumers. Currently, Maurice Blackburn has not disclosed the specific number of affected vehicles or details of the claims amount.
