後場の日経平均は前日比89.58円安の39993.72円と、前引け（39942.95円）から下げ幅を縮小してスタート。ランチタイム中の日経225先物は39940円-40060円のレンジで強含みもみ合い。ドル・円は1ドル＝158.20-30円と午前9時頃とほぼ同水準。アジア市況は上海総合指数がマイナス圏で軟調で0.9％ほど下落している一方、香港ハンセン指数は朝方に一時上げる場面もあったがその後軟調で1.1％ほど下落している。

後場の東京市場は前引けに比べ買いが先行して始まった。昨日の日経平均が700円を超す大幅高となった後ということから、今日の下げは健全な調整の範囲内との見方が多く、また、前場の日経平均が下値の堅い展開だったことから安心感が広がっているようだ。一方、米国で今晩、12月のADP全米雇用リポート、週間の米新規失業保険申請件数、週末10日は12月の米雇用統計と、米雇用・労働関連指標の発表が相次ぐほか、週末は東京市場の株価指数オプション1月物の特別清算指数（SQ）算出日となるなど、内外のイベントを控え、積極的な買いを手控える向きもある。

セクターでは、保険業、その他金融業、証券商品先物が下落率上位となっている一方、海運業、非鉄金属、倉庫運輸関連が上昇率上位となっている。

In the afternoon session, the Nikkei Average started at 39993.72 yen, down 89.58 yen from the previous day, reducing the decline from the morning close (39942.95 yen). In the Sector, the Insurance, Other Financing Business, and Securities Futures have the highest rates of decline, while the Marine Transportation, Nonferrous Metals, and Warehousing and Transportation related sectors have the highest rates of increase.

In terms of trading volume in the Tokyo Stock Exchange Main Board, companies like Sanrio <8136>, Tokio Marine <8766>, OLC <4661>, MS&AD <8725>, ORIX <8591>, SOMPO <8630>, NINTENDO CO LTD <7974>, IHI <7013>, Nissan <7201>, and Mitsui & Co <8031> saw declines.
