Following reports of issues with a feature known as "Advanced Smart Summon," the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) began a preliminary assessment of approximately 2.6 million Tesla vehicles. According to documents published on the NHTSA's official website, the department received a complaint stating that Tesla's "Advanced Smart Summon" feature caused an accident, with at least three media reports of similar incidents. The "Advanced Smart Summon," launched by Tesla at the end of last year, allows owners to remotely move their vehicles in parking lots or other locations using a Smart Phone application. NHTSA indicated that some vehicles failed to detect markers or other parked Cars when using this feature, leading to accidents, and some users were unable to avoid crashes due to time constraints.
