Anthropic is currently in the final stage of financing negotiations, planning to raise up to 2 billion dollars.
According to Zhixun Finance APP, Anthropic, an AI startup founded by former research executives of OpenAI, is currently in the final stages of fundraising negotiations, planning to raise up to $2 billion, with a Company Valuation expected to reach $60 billion. It has been confirmed by foreign media that this round of financing is led by Lightspeed Venture Partners.
Anthropic has gained significant attention due to the success of its AI chatbot Claude. Claude is creating a buzz in the generative AI field, similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini, and is widely used in Business functions such as sales, marketing, and customer service.
Currently, Anthropic, OpenAI, and technology giants such as Google (GOOGL.US, GOOG.US), Amazon (AMZN.US), Microsoft (MSFT.US), and Meta (META.US) are engaged in fierce competition in the generative AI field. Market analysts predict that revenues in the generative AI market will exceed $1 trillion over the next decade. As a major investor in OpenAI, Microsoft is making significant investments in generative AI startups alongside Amazon, while also developing its own technology.
According to informed sources, Anthropic's annualized revenue is approximately $0.875 billion, primarily derived from enterprise sales. Lightspeed, as an existing investor in Anthropic, declined to comment on the details of this round of financing.
In November of this year, Amazon announced an additional investment of $0.4 billion in Anthropic, bringing its total investment to $8 billion. While Amazon is a critical investor in Anthropic, it has not secured a seat on the Board of Directors. Moreover, Google committed to investing $2 billion in Anthropic last year and has confirmed holding a 10% stake in the startup, while the two parties signed a large-scale Cloud Computing Service contract.
Alongside the announcement of the latest round of investment, Amazon's Cloud Computing department has become Anthropic's "primary cloud services and training partner". In the future, Anthropic will use Amazon's Trainium and Inferentia chips to train and deploy its largest AI models.
Last year, Anthropic significantly accelerated its technology development pace. In October, the company announced that its AI agents could perform complex tasks on computers like humans do. This "computer usage capability" technology allows the AI to interpret the content on the computer screen, select buttons, input text, browse websites, and execute tasks using any software and live internet.
Anthropic's Chief Science Officer Jared Kaplan stated that this tool can "use computers in a way almost identical to humans" and can complete tasks involving "tens or even hundreds of steps." He revealed in an interview with foreign media that OpenAI also plans to launch similar features.
In September, Anthropic launched its largest enterprise-level new product since Claude—Claude Enterprise, designed for businesses wishing to integrate AI technology. Furthermore, earlier this year, Anthropic released its more powerful AI model Claude 3.5 Sonnet, providing higher performance technical support for AI applications.
