Bursa Malaysia saw a positive turnaround by midday, following a weaker opening. The benchmark FBM KLCI index initially opened lower at 1,624.50 points but rapidly rebounded, closing at 1,632.90 points, up 7.43 points or 0.46% by 12:30 PM.
Leading the gains were Gamuda and Sunway, which saw strong performance and helped propel the index to a high of 1,633.23 points during the session. The market traded a total of 2.42 billion shares, valued at RM1.61 billion. The FBM All Share Index closed at 12,573.12 points, up by 51.97 points.
Market breadth was mixed with 464 stocks advancing, 502 declining, and 531 remaining unchanged, while 856 stocks saw no trading.
The US dollar weakened, and the ringgit was trading at 4.5075 per US dollar as of 12.30 pm.
