Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on all ministries to prioritise enhancing Malaysia's tourism, investment, and economic capabilities as part of the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign. The initiative aims for nationwide involvement, ensuring that no state or district is left behind in becoming a tourism destination.
Speaking at the campaign launch, Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister, emphasised the importance of recognising the unique strengths of each state and district in attracting visitors. He stated, "I have asked all ministries to focus on ensuring Malaysia can enhance capabilities in the fields of tourism, investment, and economy. This is so that no area or state is marginalised or left behind."
The Prime Minister highlighted the government's efforts to position every state as a key tourism destination for this year and the next, aligning with Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship. "In fact, for this year, as we strive to make a success of the ASEAN Chairmanship, we will ensure our programmes will equip all states, with no exceptions, to become tourism destinations this year and next year, in particular," he said.
Anwar also underscored the economic goals tied to the campaign, projecting RM147.1 billion in income and a target of 35.6 million tourist arrivals through comprehensive nationwide efforts. He expressed confidence that the collective involvement of all parties would drive the success of the initiative.
