One year after the Alaska Air aircraft door incident, Boeing (BA.US) outlined the latest information about many safety and quality plans implemented in recent months to address the crisis, including increased surprise inspections of its facilities, significantly enhanced employee and workforce training, streamlined plans and processes, eliminating defects, and ongoing monitoring and supervision of the health of its production systems.
Boeing has added hundreds of hours of training for mechanics and safety inspectors and upgraded support systems, including workplace coaches, peer trainers, and skill enhancement centers.
Boeing has also increased quality inspections, such as checking the fuselage manufactured by supplier Spirit Aerosystems before it leaves the Boeing factory. Employees who report issues will receive new confidentiality protections.
The Federal Aviation Administration of the USA stated that Boeing's plans are not just a one-year initiative while assessing its progress so far.
