Tesla China, a subsidiary of the American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla (TSLA.US), stated that the company sold over 0.657 million electric vehicles in China last year, an 8.8% year-on-year increase. Sales last month rose 12.8% year-on-year to 0.083 million vehicles, setting a new monthly record. The Chinese market accounted for 36.7% of the company's total electric vehicle sales last year, making it the company's second-largest market.
Tesla's electric vehicle sales last year fell 1.1% year-on-year to 1.79 million vehicles, slightly higher than BYD (01211.HK)'s 1.76 million vehicles, which saw a year-on-year increase of 12.1%. When including hybrid vehicles, BYD's Passenger Vehicle sales rose 41% year-on-year to 4.25 million vehicles, with overseas sales accounting for 0.4172 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 71.9%, but below the target of 0.45 million vehicles.
