According to Reuters, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) of the USA sent a letter to the asset management company Blackrock (BLK.US), requesting the company to accept an agreement with the authorities by the 10th of next month, allowing the authorities to regulate its investments in banks regulated by the FDIC.

Last Friday (the 27th), the authorities reached a similar agreement with Vanguard, which must become a passive investor in FDIC-regulated banks. Reports indicate that Blackrock received the latest proposal from the authorities last Friday, just less than an hour after the agreement was announced with Vanguard, and the proposal was similar to the agreement text between the authorities and Vanguard.

The authorities are pushing Vanguard and Blackrock to accept the agreement, allowing them to regulate the commitments of both not to interfere in the business of FDIC-regulated banks.
