According to Kyodo News, it is no longer possible for Nippon Steel to complete the acquisition of United States Steel (X.US) within the year, thus it has decided to postpone it until March of next year at the latest, and strongly hopes that President Biden can make a fair and fact-based assessment regarding the acquisition.
The Committee on Foreign Investment in the USA (CFIUS) has commissioned Biden to decide whether to allow the acquisition, and the US antitrust authorities are continuing their review, hence Nippon Steel is changing the timeline for completing the acquisition.
