Li Auto (02015.HK) opened 3.59% higher today (the 27th), and later increased by 5.6%, reaching a high of 99.9 yuan. It is currently reported at 98.25 yuan, up 3.86%, with a trading volume of 6.5005 million shares, involving a capital of 0.64 billion yuan.
Regarding whether Li Auto will develop Robotics, especially humanoid robots, Li Auto CEO Li Xiang stated at the 2024 Li Auto AI Talk that it is statistically a 100% certainty that it will happen, but it is not the right time yet. If level L4 autonomous vehicles have not been conquered, then solving more complex problems is still too early.
He added that automobiles themselves are contactless robots, and that standardization on the road, including road signs and transportation participants, also adheres to uniform standards, with everyone having received training in traffic rules. In his view, this already represents the simplest application scenario for Robotics. If automobiles cannot achieve high levels of automation, then the level of achievement for other types of AI robots would also be very limited.
When asked if Li Auto would keep the name 'Li Auto' if it transformed into an AI company, Li Xiang pointed out that Li Auto is essentially an AI company, and the goal is not merely to achieve intelligence in automobiles, but to promote the deep integration of AI with automobiles, realizing the automotiveization of AI and popularizing this technology in every household. Although the company logo and the operating company name do not directly include the word 'automobile', Hardware remains at the core of its development.
He continued, stating that car manufacturing must continue, electrification is the first half, and intelligence is the second half, but intelligence refers not to traditional software intelligence, but to true AI, which is an essential path for the continuation of car manufacturing. Automobiles will evolve from mere transportation tools of the industrial era into spatial robots of the AI era. To elaborate on the vision more comprehensively, it means 'connecting the physical world and the digital world', striving to become a leading AI company.
Additionally, he clearly stated that he does not wish to engage in Robotaxi-type businesses, believing that after achieving L4-level autonomous driving, the cost of family vehicles will decrease and prices will become more affordable, leading to more people willing to own a car. Perhaps in five or ten years, looking back, the mainstream trend will either be Robotaxi or more people owning and using autonomous vehicles to provide convenience for family and friends. The coming years will be a decisive turning point.
He revealed that Li Auto invests 10 billion RMB annually in R&D, with half of it dedicated to AI. The company might have a 50% chance of producing a very interesting supercar by 2030, but it will definitely be an AI supercar.
As for purchasing a Ferrari, he explained that experience is crucial; through his own experiences, they can transform into his own understanding and abilities.
