MasterCard (MA.US) stated that from November 1 to December 24 this year, retail sales in the USA grew by 3.8%, surpassing last year's increase of 3.1% and expectations, mainly due to retailers increasing promotional activities to stimulate Consumer spending.
Among them, online sales increased by 6.7%, higher than last year's rise of 6.3%, with strong demand in the Outfits sector. The report indicated that gift shopping levels were also higher than last year, stimulating demand for Outfits, jewelry, and electronics, which increased by 3.6%, 4%, and 3.7% respectively.
