In order to surpass OpenAI, Musk is fully engaged in 'Speed and Passion.'

Recently, the Technology circle welcomed a major event, as xAI announced that it has secured another $6 billion in Series C financing.

This time, the luxury investment lineup has been upgraded, with Musk bringing in giants like NVIDIA and AMD.

In the latest investment lineup revealed by xAI, NVIDIA, AMD, and Morgan Stanley are among the 97 individuals or Institutions participating.

Specifically, participants in the company's Series C financing include A16Z, Blackrock, Fidelity, Sequoia Capital, Kingdom Holdings, and Morgan Stanley.

As 'Global Strategy investors,' NVIDIA and AMD are also involved.

Among them, Fidelity, Sequoia Capital, and Kingdom Holdings also participated in xAI's Series B financing in May.

Back in May of this year, xAI raised 6 billion USD.

In less than a year, xAI's total fundraising this year has doubled to 12 billion USD (approximately 87.6 billion yuan).

It has surpassed OpenAI, which raised 10.6 billion USD this year, becoming the company with the most funding in the Global Technology sector this year.

As of now, xAI's valuation has skyrocketed to 40 billion USD, securing the 'second seat' among Global large model unicorns, just behind OpenAI.

Market analysis states that xAI's target valuation is 50 billion USD, or plans to conduct another round of financing next year.

However, as it stands, if xAI wants to surpass OpenAI's valuation of 157 billion USD, Musk still needs to work harder.

Musk is performing exceptionally well.

It is well known that Musk has a deep "past of grievances" with OpenAI, and the birth of xAI is based on this.

Defeating OpenAI should be Musk's motivation for the past two years.

Last July, xAI was announced and has not yet reached its two-year anniversary.

Currently, the large model that xAI has launched is Grok 2, which overall performance exceeds GPT-4o.

In addition, xAI has successfully built the world's largest AI supercomputer — Colossus.

This supercomputer uses the NVIDIA full-stack reference design and is equipped with up to 0.1 million NVIDIA Hopper GPUs.

It is reported that Colossus was fully operational within 122 days and began running workloads just 19 days after the first batch of servers was delivered.

Even Musk's old rival Ultraman has exclaimed that xAI will become a "strong competitor" to OpenAI.

Currently, xAI is intensively training its most powerful model to date - Grok 3.

It is also seen as a competitor to OpenAI's latest flagship model o3. According to previous leaks, this model may be released by the end of this year.

According to xAI, the funds from this round of financing will be used to further accelerate advanced infrastructure, such as the Grok model.

To this end, Musk also responded to xAI's financing on the X platform, and exclaimed:

"We need more powerful computing capabilities!"
