Lyft (LYFT.US) has accused the city of San Francisco in a lawsuit of overcharging $0.1 billion in taxes over five years, unfairly treating the earnings of its app drivers as company income.
The lawsuit points out that the formulas used by San Francisco to assess wages, total income, and the homeless tax violate the company's constitutional rights, forcing it to pay far more than its fair share. Lyft is seeking a refund of the amounts it claims to have overpaid, including interest, penalties, and fees.
