2. History
The company was established in Tokyo City as Tokyo Automobile Distribution Co., Ltd. based on the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's notification "Guidelines for the Organization of Automobile and Automotive Parts Distribution" in 1942. After World War II, it changed its name to Tokyo NISSAN MOTOR CO Sales in 1946, and gradually expanded its business along with motorization, listing on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 1961. In 1989, it entered the system business by establishing Tokyo NISSAN Computer Systems and in 2002, it established Vehicle Inspection Hall Co., Ltd. to strengthen vehicle inspection maintenance. In 2004, Tokyo NISSAN Computer Systems was listed on the JASDAQ market. In the same year, by way of company split, it transitioned to a holding company structure and changed its name to Tohin Car Life Group Inc., followed by a third-party allocation of new shares to NISSAN MOTOR CO’s subsidiary, NISSAN Network Holdings Inc., becoming an equity-method affiliate of NISSAN MOTOR CO. In 2011, three companies based in Tokyo, Tokyo NISSAN MOTOR CO Sales, NISSAN Prince Tokyo Sales Co., Ltd., and NISSAN Prince Nishi Tokyo Sales Co., Ltd. were grouped together, almost exclusively undertaking the sales of NISSAN MOTOR CO in Tokyo. Consequently, the company changed its name to the current NISSAN Tokyo Sales Holdings. As the grouping progressed smoothly, in July 2021, aiming for further efficiency and economies of scale, the three NISSAN sales companies integrated to establish NISSAN Tokyo Sales, becoming one of the largest car dealers in the country both in name and reality. Moreover, to concentrate limited management resources on automotive-related businesses, all shares of Tokyo NISSAN Computer Systems were transferred to Canon Inc-Spons Adr in October 2023.
