Meta pointed out that ultimately, the AI will offer helpful suggestions at the right moments, even before the user asks questions.
The company stated that the update will be available to members through its Early Access Program, which will be open to Ray-Ban Meta glasses users in the USA and Canada.
Meta announced these features along with Other Products updates at the annual Connect conference in September. The second feature the company released is real-time translation, which Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg demonstrated live on stage at Connect.
With this new feature, the glasses will be able to provide real-time translation between English and Spanish, French, or Italian. When users converse with someone speaking one of these three languages, they will hear the other person's words translated into English through the glasses' open-ear headphones, or see a text transcription in English on their phone, and vice versa.
Meta pointed out that these AI features may not always be correct, and the company will continue to refine the most effective methods and improve the experience.
Additionally, the company has added the song recognition app Shazam to its smart glasses. Users can say, "Hey, Meta, what song is this?" and then find out related information about the song. The company noted that the Ray-Ban Meta glasses with Shazam can be purchased in the USA and Canada.
In September, Ray-Ban manufacturer EssilorLuxottica expanded its partnership with Meta to collaboratively develop multiple generations of smart glasses products over the next decade. Last year, the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses became its first product to include Meta's AI chatbot audio version.
