Does the launch of the "Obvious Package" toy equipped with the Doubao large model mean that ByteDance will have a presence in the AI toy sector? ByteDance stated to the Star Daily that the Obvious Package is a toy given to clients for the Mid-Autumn Festival; it is not a product but an innovation combining a toy with Doubao, as they felt that sending mooncakes for Mid-Autumn Festival lacked novelty; it is not a product initiative. ByteDance emphasized that the end user is an important application scenario for large models, and there are many collaborations with Doubao's large model across Autos, mobile phones, and various Consumer products, but ByteDance itself will not engage in manufacturing.

"Obvious Package" is an internally developed blue and white plush toy by ByteDance, embedded with Doubao's large model, Button's professional version, and other AI technologies, allowing for dialogue and emotional interaction with users. The resale price of this toy on second-hand platforms has already risen to several hundred yuan.

Although ByteDance has not personally entered the AI toy market, it has already made strides in combining AI capabilities with Hardware. Previously, they launched their first AI intelligent earphone, OlaFriend, which is equipped with Doubao's AI large model, supporting various AI functions such as Q&A and English practice.

The ByteDance Volcano Engine 2024 Winter FORCE Power Conference, to be held on December 19, will also include a hardware model session, with the main hardware terminals presented being mobile phones, toys, Autos, Smart Hardware, and PCs.

"Obvious Package" is a typical example of the rise of the AI toy sector, and a batch of AI toy Venture companies has already emerged both at home and abroad, with innovative products like BubblePal surpassing sales of ten thousand this year.

According to analysis by CSC, the long payment cycle and high market growth rate of AI toys make them one of the best scenarios for deploying large models currently. AI toys are not a one-time purchase; they can continuously charge users for large model access fees. Furthermore, companion scenarios exhibit higher tolerance for large model illusions, thus making AI toys one of the best deployment scenarios for large models.

The institution predicts that AI toys are likely to meet some of the user demand for traditional children's toys, millet products, Smart Speakers, and AI virtual companionship applications.

In the AI toy sector, some listed companies have already made plans.

Zhejiang Jinke Tom Culture Industry has confirmed that the first AI emotional companionship robot - Tom Cat AI Companion will officially go on sale on December 21, priced at over 1000 yuan. This robot is designed specifically for children aged 3-11 and can perform emotional recognition, initiate conversations, engage in bilingual interaction, and provide general knowledge about everything. According to reports, the companionship needs of elderly people and those living alone are also considered by Tom Cat, and related products targeting this group may be launched in the future.

Alpha Group, which holds the national-level IP of Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf, announced at its new product launch in October the latest AI core intelligent new product series, involving three main categories: AI plush toys, educational toys, and desktop robots, including the "Sleep-Inducing AI Pleasant Goat" smart toy.
