Palantir has partnered with Red Cat to integrate Palantir's visual navigation and AI technology into Red Cat's Black Widow Drone.
According to Zhitong Finance APP, Palantir Technologies (PLTR.US) has partnered with Red Cat Holdings (RCAT.US) to integrate Palantir's visual navigation and AI technology into Red Cat's Black Widow Drone, an innovative move expected to have a profound impact on the operational methods of modern warfare's autonomous small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS). After being selected for the US Army's short-range reconnaissance program, the Black Widow Drone will achieve a performance leap by integrating Palantir's VNav Software with the Warp Speed manufacturing operating system.
Specifically, Palantir's VNav Software effectively addresses the problem of inertial drift during long-distance flights by precisely matching the drone's real-time position with the latest Satellite images, significantly enhancing the navigation accuracy of the drone.
Red Cat's CEO Jeff Thompson is very confident about this, highlighting that the Black Widow Drone, integrated with Palantir technology, will not only become one of the most powerful drones deployed by the Department of Defense but also, with its compact and portable design, can easily fit into a backpack for convenient transport and deployment.
The market reaction has been positive; as of Monday's close, Red Cat's stock price rose by 26.97%, reflecting a bullish attitude from the market towards this partnership. However, it is worth noting that the stock experienced a 12.73% decline in after-hours trading, indicating that some investors maintain a level of caution amid the optimism.
