IDC Consulting published a report on the top ten insights for the China Smart Phone market in 2025, indicating that the central government is determined to improve market confidence and promote economic stabilization and recovery, which will stimulate Consumer demand, possibly increasing subsidies for Smart Phones, encouraging more Consumers to upgrade their devices. It is currently forecasted that the shipment volume of China's Smart Phone market will reach 0.289 billion units by 2025, with a year-on-year growth of 1.6%, and the shipment volume will remain stable in the coming years.
IDC pointed out that since the fourth quarter of last year, the performance of the China Smart Phone market has steadily recovered, with the upgrade demand accumulated over the past three years gradually being released. Negative factors such as economic weakness and rising costs have not significantly suppressed the demand for upgrades. Considering that Smart Phones are the most relied upon terminal devices in everyone's daily life, the upgrade cycle that began at the end of 2023 is expected to continue into 2025.
The firm also predicts that the growth of foldable screen Smart Phones will outpace the market due to technological advancements, forecasting that the shipment volume of China's foldable screen Smart Phone market will be about 10 million units in 2025, with a year-on-year growth of 8.3%. The estimated compound annual growth rate through 2028 will reach 10.6%. Additionally, IDC expects the shipment volume of China's next-generation AI Smart Phone market to reach 0.118 billion units in 2025, with a year-on-year growth of 59.8%.
