The company has announced today that, in relation to the "Energy Saving Activities at the Suwa South Plant Utility Facilities" conducted with Seiko Epson Corp. (Headquarters: Suwa City, Nagano Prefecture, President: Yoshinori Ogawa, hereafter referred to as "Epson"), it jointly received the "Minister of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy Award" in the case study category of the 2024 Energy Saving Awards (hosted by the Energy Efficiency Center).
"The Energy Saving Awards" is a system that recognizes excellent energy-saving initiatives that serve as a model for other businesses and workplaces, as well as energy-efficient products and Business models.
Epson aims for carbon negativity and zero consumption of underground resources (Note) in its "Environmental Vision 2050". This case is part of Suwa South Plant's unique initiative to achieve an interim goal of "reducing total emissions in line with a 1.5°C scenario" by 2030, while maintaining the manufacturing and development environment.
Specifically, from 2018, a roadmap for decarbonization at the Suwa South Plant was formulated, energy savings were promoted based on energy measurement, and education on energy-saving methods was conducted through collaboration between the two companies, resulting in a reduction of CO2 emissions from the Suwa South Plant by 4,745 tons in FY2023 (compared to FY2017).

The company provides solution services aimed at improving energy efficiency and productivity by deeply engaging with the diverse challenges in the production process together with customers, and this initiative is part of that effort.
In the future, various solution services that capture customer needs will continue to be developed to meet customer expectations.
